Question.
How do I cut my Belgian Chocolate Cake ?

Answer.
I have found that it is best to break all the chocolate fans of the cake first, separate the tiers, and then cut each tier as you would a normal sponge cake.

Question.
Can I have fresh flowers on my cake ?

Answer.
Yes. I can decorate your cake with the same flowers that you are using as your theme, at an extra cost, or alternatively if you require an exact match you may wish to have your florist to provide the flowers for us.

Question.
Where can I find you ?

Answer.
Please visit our 'How to Find Us' page where you can find a map with directions of how to find us. However if you are still having difficulty finding us, please call (07989) 858074 and Lindsay will be more than pleased to talk you through the directions.

Question.
Do you cater for people with nut or gluten allergies ?

Answer.
We cannot guarantee 'nut free' as almost all products today carry warnings with regard to trace nut elements. We can ensure that every care is given in producing a nut free cake and are happy to list all ingredients used, but can not guarantee absolutely 'nut free'. We can also supply a Coeliac cake for those people on gluten-free diets due to Coeliac disease, gluten intolerance, dermatitis herpetiformis, wheat allergy or other health reason. (please refer to our links page for further information on this subject).

Question.
How will my cake be delivered ?

Answer.
If you are not collecting your cake personally, we can arrange to deliver your cake to your chosen venue where we can 'set-up' the cake and make final adjustments to the presentation of the cake for you. There is a charge for this service which is calculated on the distance travelled and the time spent on assembling your cake. The exact cost for this service will be included with your cake quotation.

Question.
What size cake will I need to cater for our guests ?

Answer.
If you inform us of how many guests you need to accommodate, we will give you an idea of the size of cake that will be required. (We can also provide additional cutting cakes for large numbers which are a more cost effective solution to fully decorated cakes)

Size Guide
For tiered cakes simply add the portions per tier size. Portions are based on a size approximately 2" x 1" for sponge cakes and 1" x 1" for fruit cakes.

Question.
Why are there no prices on your site ?

Answer.
We feel that it is unfair to our clients to list the price of their personal cake on our website. Should you require a quote either telephone (01423) 358721 or e-mail your enquiry to enquiries@chocolatecreation.co.uk and we will be more than pleased to give you a priced quotation.

Question.
How do I store my cake ?

Answer.

1. Store in a cool and dark area
Chocolate is sensitive to temperature, humidity, odours and, if in contact with air and light, oxidation. Chocolate should be protected against light and air and stored in a dark cool dry place, at a constant temperature between 12oC and 20oC.

2. Beware of odours
Chocolate is very receptive to the absorption of unfamiliar odours. That's is why chocolate must be stored in an area which does not smell musty or unusual. Chocolate should never be stored between or near strong smelling products (e.g. cheese, fish, meat, lemons, etc.).

After the function, cakes other than fruit cakes should be consumed on the day or within three days. Fruit cakes could be kept up to 12 months but must be stored in a cool place. Do not hesitate to contact me for advice on storing your cake, I will be glad to help you.

Question.
How far in advance do I need to order my wedding cake ?

Answer.
We prefer at least two months notice for ordering a wedding cake. However we understand sometimes people are let down so we can supply at short notice if required.

Question.
Can you provide the loan of a cake stand ?

Answer.
Yes we can supply cake stands of various designs at a small charge. These will compliment your cake design and display it to its optimum. A deposit of £100 is required per stand, which is refundable when the stand is returned to us on the agreed date and in good condition.

Question.
What is Ganache ?

Answer.
Extremely smooth filling obtained by mixing full cream brought to the boil, which is added to the chocolate and stirred until a smooth paste is obtained. This chocolate paste can be flavoured in various ways (coffee, alcohol, spices, fruit flavours and even flowers such as Jasmine).
